NIFA
Loses Pat Roberts, Former Senior Chief Judge, Council Member Emeritus,
and NIFA Founders Award Recipient
McMinnville, OR -For the second time in as many months, NIFA has lost an ardent supporter and long time friend, Pat Roberts. On May 23, Pat Roberts lost her battle with cancer. Pat served as the NIFA Senior Chief Judge, the Region XI Council Representative, Council Member Emeritus and the chief judge of several national SAFECONS.
For many years, Pat's financial contributions to NIFA were the only means by which NIFA was able to remain a viable organization. She established several funds for the purpose of keeping NIFA operating. Never asking for recognition or thanks, Pat simply wanted to be able to work with the student competitors of NIFA. However, in recognition of her work and support, Pat was awarded the second Founders Award by the NIFA Council.
Born in Boston on March 20, 1929, Pat received her nursing license from Mount Auburn Hospital in 1950. She practiced as a surgical nurse at Massachusetts General Hospital. She married C. Sheldon Roberts of Vermont in 1950 in Boston. The couple moved to California and brought up their family there. They moved to Oregon in 1978.
Funeral services for Patricia W. Roberts of McMinnville will be held on Friday, May 30, at the Bigelow Chapel on the grounds of the Mount Auburn Cemetary in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
